Solopos.com, SOLO-The IEOM Society International has appointed Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Solo, Indonesia, and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to organize the third Asia Pacific Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (3rd APIEOM), September 13-15, 2022. This event included 700+ submissions papers, 13 outstanding keynote speakers, and 30 invited speakers from 40 countries.
The conference opened formally with welcoming remarks by Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail, UTM Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. Kuncoro Diharjo, ST, MT., as UNS Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Affairs, on Tuesday (9/13/2022). “These efforts align with the Universitas Sebelas Maret’s Vision: Becoming the excellent center of development of science, technology, and art at the international level based on the noble values of the national culture,” said Prof. Dr. Kuncoro Diharjo, ST, MT. On the first day, Tuesday (9/13/2022), the conference by present four keynote speakers, namely: Prof. Dr. Elsayed A. Elsayed, Distinguished professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Rutgers University New Brunswick, NJ, U.S.A.; Dr. Mohamad Norjayadi Tamam, Director Delivery Management Office Productivity Growth, Department Malaysia Productivity Corporation Lorong Produktiviti Selangor, Darul Ehsan, Malaysia; Prof. Dr. Wawan Dhewanto, Professor of Entrepreneurship School of Business and Management (SBM), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia; and Mr. Casey Ang, Founder of Operational Skills Development Centre, Lenoxcells Consulting Sdn. Bhd. Pulau Pinang, Malaysia.

And continued by conducting 12 branches of student competitions, namely the undergraduate student paper competition sponsored by Siemens; graduate student paper sponsored by Eaton corporation; undergraduate research; senior design projects; doctoral dissertation; master thesis; human factors and ergonomics; lean six sigma competition sponsored by tooling tech group; simulations; supply chain and logistics; Covid-19; and posters.
The second day, Wednesday (9/14/2022), will be attended by five keynote speakers, namely: Prof. Duc Truong Pham Chance, Chair of Engineering University of Birmingham, United Kingdom; Dr. Mohd Azman Idris Senior General Manager SIRIM STS Sdn Bhd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of SIRIM Berhad) Shah Alam, Selangor Malaysia; Professor Ts. Dr. Mohamad Sattar Rasul, Chairman of STEM Enculturation Center, Faculty of Education Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor Malaysia; Prof. Ir. Muhammad Nizam, MT., Ph.D., Secretary of Centre of Excellence for Electrical Energy Storage Technology, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Indonesia; and Prof. Kerstin Johansen, full professor in Integrated Product and Production Development, Project leader Resilient and Sustainable Production – Proactive greenfield and brownfield production development (RaSP) Jönköping University Sweden. And continued with parallel sessions in 7 presentation rooms.

The keynote speakers continued on the third day, Thursday (9/15/2022), with four speakers, namely: Mr. Paul Odomirok, President and CEO Performance Excellence Associates, Inc. St Augustine, Florida, USA; Prof. Nigel Grigg, Professor of Quality Systems Group Leader, Department of Operations and Engineering Innovation Massey University, New Zealand; Mr. David Khaw, President, Project Management Institute Malaysia Chapter, and Dr. Matloub Hussain Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management University of Sharjah UAE. The issue of global engineering education has also become the primary concern of the IEOM Society with the activity The 34th IEOM Global Engineering Education. It is also the 2nd Indonesia Engineering Education Conference (IEEC) organized by the Faculty of Engineering UNS by presenting prominent speakers in the field of ‘global engineering education’ which discusses workforce readiness and the challenges and opportunities of engineering education. The activity with the slogan Success is a part of progress, as a reward from moving forward. It is time for Indonesia to go global and be global, will be closed on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
